facé is a self-organising, creative & co-operative body of traditionally based musicians, singers & poets.

It was founded in Kildare in April 2001 in response to the need for an organisation that will promote and defend the rights of individuals and groups whose creative work is rooted within the tradition.

Our logo shows the triple spiral of our 3 aural arts, forming a strong and flexible space, which protects & nourishes the individual within.

Our principal aim is to sustain and improve the welfare of our members & their families. This can take many different forms, e.g:

• the establishment of an efficient inter-distribution network of members' CDs

• the lobbying ... on behalf of individual members ... of the individuals & companies responsible for royalty distribution

• the provision of a legal support structure for members who require it

• liasing with other bodies in the creative arts

• creating networks and data bases of venues

Our collective viewpoint on any given issue is determined through discussion by interested members in a dedicated forum, and subsequent e-voting on motions proposed. Actions are then undertaken with the agreement of the membership, currently over 200. We have a diverse range of opinions, but we all agree on the need for positive change in many areas that concern us all. For details of facé resolutions please contact caint@face.ie

We take an active interest in the welfare of the elder generations of musicians, singers & poets, and support the development of our skills among the young.

facé is not funded, and we maintain our independence through the sales of compilation CDs of our members' work.
